FIR against Muneer Katipalla for protesting without permission

Mangaluru, November 28, 2024: An FIR has been filed in Kavoor Police Station against activist Muneer Katipalla over the recent protest against Highway problems and demanding early completion of the Nantur flyover and Kulur bridge. The protest was held under the aegis of Suratkal toll gate action committee.

Reacting to the FIR, Muneer Katipalla who is convener of the action committee, said the suo moto FIR is registered against only him. He also said there remains no doubt that all this was happening at the behest of the local BJP MLAs who want to shut down people’s movements.

He said the FIR was not only against him but also against people who raise their voice for the cause of the good of the society.

Pointing out that the police had denied permission for the protest and added that following this the protestors did not use loudspeakers and sat on a vacant land near the Highway and protested under the scorching sun after informing the police. He also questioned how this can be an offence.
