Mangalore, Jan 27, 2012 : Justice B. V. Pinto, the Karnataka High Court Judge, inaugurated the seminar on medicine, ethics, and legal issues organized by Fr. Muller Medical College in its FMMC Decennial Memorial Conference Hall on Jan 27 Friday.
In his inaugural address, he said that Fr. Mullers has grown rapidly. Speaking about his legal experiences, he said that his first case was related to the labour issue at Fr. Mullers Hospital in 1978. He also said that he is linked to the medical profession as he is a professor on medical ethics at several colleges. He also said that at least one of the ten cases he comes across is related to tampering of medical files by doctors.
Speaking on medical ethics, he said that, in cases of accidents, in which victims are in no position to choose their own doctors, members of the medical profession must not take advantage of the situation.
Later Justice B. V. Pinto was felicitated.
Patrick Rodrigues, the director of Fr. Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the event. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, the administrator of FMMC, delivered the welcome address.
Dr. J. P. Alva, the dean of FMMC, and Sr. Winifred D’Souza were among the dignitaries on the dais.
