Mangalore, Dec 15, 2013: Dr Rajendra Chenni, eminent writer and Director of School of Languages, Literature and Fine Arts, Kuvempu University, said fascism though cannot destroy democracy, it can certainly facilitate the destruction by widening the differences in the society.
He was speaking at the inaugural of “Jana Nudi” a two day literary conference organised by Abhimatha, Mangalore, a forum of like minded organisations. The event was inaugurated at Kalangann at Shaktinagar.
Continuing, Dr Chennai further described the decision to project Narendra Modi as the PM candidate as a declaration of war on oppressed groups in the society. The projection of Modi who was responsible for killings in Gujarat is nothing but a way of putting an end to the oppressed sections in the society, he observed.
Eminent writer Saara Aboobakker who also spoke on the occasion, was critical of the state government for not extending all possible aid to the Endosulfan victims at a time when liberal amounts have been sanctioned to mutts and temples in the past.
Noted writer Prof. SG Siddaramaiah who presided over the session, resented the silence maintained by so called intellectuals with regard to superstitious practice like Made Snana.”It is nothing but an irony that people who did not raise voice against Thaali Bhagya are now raising voice no sooner they hear the word Shaadi,” he said.
Farmer leader Kadidal Shamanna, Writer HS Anupama and others spoke at the inaugural function.
