Fire breaks out at Pachanady dumping yard

Mangaluru, Jan 07, 2023: A major fire broke out at the Pachanady waste dumping yard on Friday causing panic in the surrounding areas as a thick cloud of black smoke as well as strong odour pervaded the area.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As many as ten fire tender vehicles from Mangaluru Airport, MRPL, NMPT, KIOCL and other places are struggling to extinguish the fire. As many as 12 JCBs too were pressed into service.

Fire was first noticed on Friday afternoon at around 12 and soon began to spread due to strong winds.

The efforts to extinguish the fire  continued throughout the night.

Mayor Jayananda Anchan, Legislator Dr Bharath Shetty, Corporators Bhasker K, Sangeetha Naik, MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar and others visited the spot and took stock of the situation.

MLA Bharath Shetty said officials have been instructed to provide treatment to those facing health issues due to the smoke with strong odour and also to shift people in case of necessity.
