Fire guts five shops in Perla market

Kasargod, Dec 22, 2024: A midnight fire in Perla market town caused extensive damage to five shops in a commercial building along the Badiyadka-Puttur road.

The affected shops include Pooja Fancy, Paigala Cloth Store, a paper distribution center, Praveen Automobiles, Sadat Store, and Gautam Cold House. The fire, noticed around midnight, triggered immediate action from locals, who attempted to control the flames while informing fire service personnel.

Concerned about the fire spreading to nearby buildings, five fire engines from Kasargod and Manjeshwar were deployed. After four hours of relentless efforts, firefighters, with the help of locals, managed to bring the blaze under control.

Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, an electrical short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the mishap.
