Mangaluru, Jan 03, 2023: Nalin Kumar Kateel, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Karnataka, courted controversy on Monday by stating that party cadres should concentrate on the issue of Love Jihad and not on road and sewage problems.
The Lok Sabha MP made this statement while addressing party workers at ‘Booth Vijaya Abhiyana’ in Mangaluru on Monday. During the event, he said, “So I am asking you people, don’t speak about small issues like roads and sewage. Don’t discuss that Vedavyasa didn’t raise his hands inside Vidhan Soudha. Don’t say that Nalin Kumar doesn’t have the right to raise the issue. You’re not going to get gold from Nalin Kumar Kateel rights.”
‘So I am asking you people don’t speak about SMALL issues like road and sewage.. If your worried of your children’s future and if you want to stop Love jihad, then we need BJP for that. “If you’re worried about your children’s future, and if you want to stop Love Jihad, then we need the Bhartiya Janata Party. To get rid of Love Jihad, we need the Bharatiya Janata Party,” concluded Kateel.
CONGRESS SLAMS BJP MP
Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar reacted to MP’s Nalin Kumar Kateel’s Love jihad statement and said that the BJP leader had given the worst answer and that they were dividing the country.
“He has given the worst answer. They’re not looking at development, they are looking at hatred and dividing the country. They are talking only about emotions. We are talking to people about development and ensuring that their stomachs are full. We want job creation, we want the prices to be maintained, and not be a problem for ordinary men. We are worried about the daily living of people,” said DK Shivakumar.
When asked about the Congress’s plan to expose the BJP on these communal issues, DK Shivakumar replied, “We’re touring from 11 (January). We will travel to all nooks and corners and meet all sections of society. We will communicate all that BJP has done. These are the last days of the BJP. Their light will be off, ours will be on.”
BK Hariprasad, Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative council, reacting to Nalin Kumar Kateel, said, “Nalin Kumar has said the truth once in his lifetime. The BJP has done nothing in terms of development. When they fail to do what people wanted, they divert towards communal issues. They are trying everything to disturb the peace in Mangaluru.”
