Mangaluru, August 31, 2024: Pandemonium prevailed at the MCC meeting held on Saturday after BJP members raised the issue of a recent stone pelting incident on a private bus during the Congress protest against Governor’s decision to prosecute CM Siddaramaiah in the MUDA case.
BJP corporator Sangeetha Nayak raised the issue while another member Shakeela Kava demanded that a nominated member of the MCC who was involved in the incident and is on bail, must be removed from the House.
Meanwhile, opposition members staged a protest in the well of the house, alleging that the Mayor was not allowing them to speak on the issue. There was slogan shouting from both sides.
Opposition leader Praveen Chandra Alva accused the Mayor of not allowing him to speak.
The opposition members requested for microphones and a microphone that did not work was damaged by hitting it on the floor. As pandemonium continued, the Mayor ended the meeting abruptly and walked out of the House.
