Mangalore, March 31: The Lokayukta police on Wednesday caught a government official while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a business man at office near central Market.
Varada Iyengar, district manager of Food and Civil Supplies Department, was caught red handed by the Lokayukta police. He was allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a transport business man, Gururaja Shenoy. Shenoy, a transport agent had provided vehicles to the department on contract. However, the payment was due for him. The official have demanded a bribe of RS 10,000 to clear the pending bill.
Lokayukta inspector Udaya Nayak and others were present.
