Former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa responsible for communal clashes – Poojary

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 25, 2012: Speaking at a press meet held in the office of the District Congress on Jan 25 Wednesday, senior Congress leader B. Janardhan Poojary pointed the finger of blame at former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa and alleged that he has planned the communal clashes taking place all over the state just to regain his lost position.

Listing out incidents of communal tension such as the hoisting of the Pakistani flag in Sindhagi and the provocative speeches leading to stone pelting at Uppinangady, he said that these are engineered by the supporters of B. S. Yeddyurappa to convey the message that the present CM is unable to control communal violence.

Pointing out the fact that these incidents are taking place close to the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, he said that the Yeddyurappa had given the BJP high command the deadline of Jan 30 to give him back his post and has now extended that deadline to Feb 10. He also informed reporters that Yeddyurappa has warned the BJP high command that he will not remain quiet if the post of CM is not handed back to him, but will take any step required to get back his previous position.

Despite the fact that RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat has flayed Hindus, Christians, Muslims, the police department, and also the judiciary in his speech at Uppinangady, BJP leaders such as Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, and RSS leaders are supporting him, he said, adding that the government has taken action on the police officers who were on duty.

Wanting to know if Palemar is not aware that taking action against police officers on duty is wrong, Poojary said that the Congress will condemn the move. He also informed that, according to Section 36, ministers ought to be issued non bailable warrant for preventing police officers from performing their duty.

He also challenged RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat to call a press conference and prove that he did not make provocative statements.

Congress leaders Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Harikrishna Bantwal, Arun Coelho, Mithun Rai, Praveen Alva, T. K. Sudhir, and others were present.
