Upon receiving the news of his daughter’s death, former CM Veerappa Moily, who was on a political tour in Chhattisgarh, immediately returned home last night. Hamsa, the third daughter of Veerappa Moily, was an artist involved in various social service activities. However, she did not have an interest in politics and preferred to work in her own field, earning recognition as a people’s person.

Hamsa Moily had written a Hindi play for children titled "Kyun Kyun Ladki," inspired by a book of the same name by Mahashweta Devi. She also choreographed a dance for an English play for children written by Rabindranath Tagore. Additionally, she acted in the Tamil film ’Sringaram’, which is based on the life of Devadasis.

She had acted in theatre productions such as "Agnipata" and "Chitrapata Ramayana" directed by B. Jayashree, "Smashana Kurukshetra" directed by M. S. Sathyu, and "The Vagina Monologues" and "Kamla" directed by Preetam Koilpillai. She also acted in, directed, and choreographed "Chinta," a play in English based on a story by Mahashweta Devi. She wrote a collection of poems titled "The Homecoming," published by Rupa Publications.
