Mangaluru, July 31, 2023: Prof. K Byrappa, former vice chancellor of Mangalore University passed away on July 31, Monday morning due to a cardiac arrest. He was 69 years old.

Prof. Byrappa had served as Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University from June 2014 till June 2019. He suffered a cardiac arrest at the Bengaluru airport on Monday morning. He was scheduled to go to Belagavi to attend a programme.

Prof. Byrappa had served University of Mysore for nearly three decades. He was an expert in hydrothermal technology and had published over 300 research articles.

Prof. Byrappa is survived by his wife and two sons.
