Ullal, April 13, 2025: A relaxing visit to the Ullal beach turned tragic for a group of women from Bengaluru on Sunday, as four of them were swept away by massive waves. Local swimmers acted swiftly, rescuing the women and admitting them to a hospital.
The incident occurred when five women from Nayandahalli, Bengaluru—Savitha (38), Soumya (39), Bindu (20), Padmini (38), and Manjula (35)—visited the Kuttaru Koragajja shrine in the morning. In the afternoon, they proceeded to Ullal beach. While they were sitting by the shore, a powerful wave struck, pulling Savitha, Soumya, Bindu, and Padmini into the sea.
Local swimmers managed to save all four women, but Padmini condition is critical and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Derlakatte. The other three have reportedly recovered.
This incident highlights the need for increased vigilance and safety measures for visitors at popular beaches.
