Mangalore, Jan 22: The fourth day of the Car Festival, also known as “Sanna Theru” or small Car Festival was celebrated in fervor. Shri Sudheendra Tirtha Swamiji of Kashi Mutt who arrived for the ceremony was given a warm and traditional welcome.
As a part of the festivities, the idols of the deities were carried in a silver palanquin for the “mriga bête,” which was performed on the night of the fourth day of the car festival. During the “mriga bête,” volunteers accompanied the procession, which proceeded along a pre-determined route. At the end of the procession, the deities were seated on the “Sanna Theru” or small chariot.
C L Shenoy, the managing trustee; Madhav Kamath; and Nityanand Nayak, along with a large number of devotees were also present for the festivities.
