Grand Republic Day celebrations in Udupi

Udupi, Jan 27, 2012 : The district of Udupi celebrated the Republic Day grandly at Municipal Grounds in Ajjarkad on Jan 26 Thursday. Dr. V. S. Acharya, the district-in-charge minister of Udupi, hoisted the national flag.

In his Republic Day address, Dr. Acharya spoke of the significance of Republic Day. He also spoke about the various socio-economic benefits created by the state government for various sections of society.

The students of various schools across the district participated in the Republic Day parade.

Among the dignitaries present were DC Dr. Reju, SP Dr. Ravi Kumar, ZP CEO Prabhakar Sharma, CDA Chairman B. Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Ganesh Karnik, businessman Shankar Poojary, ZP President Katpady Shankar Poojary, Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes, Shimoga MP B. Y. Raghavendra, Kundapur MLA Halady Shrinivas Shetty, Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon, Karkal MLA Gopal Bhandary, Byndoor MLA B. Laxminarayan, MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary, Kundapur MLA Pratapchandra Shetty; Town Councillor Kiran Kumar, TP President Devdas Hebbar, and District-in-charge Secretary S. Ramesh.
