Group attacks with machetes under influence of drugs; 6 injured

Kundapur, August 19, 2024: Six people were injured in an attack with machetes and beer bottle by a group of youth under the influence of drugs at Vakvadi in Kundapur taluk on Sunday.

Ashok Vakvady has lodged a complaint in this regard. Ashok along with his friends Sudhaker, Vijaya and Chandrashekhar had gone for lunch at a bar in Vakvady on Sunday afternoon. After lunch when Ashok came out of the bar with his friends, Chandrasekhar had an altercation with Edward and some others who too were at the bar.

Later in the evening, a person named Adarsh had rang up Sudhaker and asked his whereabouts. When Sudhaker said he was near the bridge at Vakvady, the accused arrived in four to five bikes and attacked Sudhaker and others with machetes and beer bottles. The assailants even damaged two autorickshaws and a bike. Search for the accused is underway.

The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical.
