Mangalore, Feb 12: Talapady witnessed yet another violent incident in which a group of 8 unknown assailants attacked 2 men with knives and other dangerous weapons late in the night of Feb 11, Thursday.
The victims are Usman Paiji (31), headmaster of Nadupalli Madrasa, Bunder and his brother Mohammed Ashraf (28), the owner of a grocery shop in Suratkal. They were assaulted when they were travelling from Talapady to Mangalore after attending a one-day religious ceremony in Talapady, near KV Road.
The assailants intercepted the bus in which the duo were travelling when it was halfway to Mangalore and started beating up the two men while fellow passengers watched in shock. The bus driver refused to stop the bus in spite of repeated pleas from the horrified passengers.
The 8 assailants escaped near Ekkur bus stop. The injured were admitted to a private hospital as soon as the bus reached Pumpwell.
The Mangalore police, in the meantime, have tightened security within the city and its surroundings in the wake of the incident of the attack on Muthalik in Bangalore as well as the recent assault on these two men. Police sources say that
