Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, the BJP leader, said that the people of India had to face tragic incidents before as well as after independence.

Stating that Hinduism has high regard for other religions, he said that no pro Hindu organization has any evil motive, but only tries to ban religious conversion, love jihad, and cow slaughter. Referring to Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat as the “personification of Hindu culture,” he said that he always tries to promote peace and harmony.

Speaking on the occasion, Lalaji R. Mendon, the MLA of Kaup, said that certain individuals in undivided DK actually promote terrorism. Stating that a few people have maliciously distorted the statements made by Dr. Bhat at the recent Samajotsav, he alleged that even the police have forged documents to file an FIR against him. He urged the police to withdraw the cases registered against Dr. Bhat.

Sheela K. Shetty, the leader of HJJV, urged people to mull over the question of why communal clashes take place during Hindu Samajotsavas.
