New Delhi, Jan 13, 2012 : Harsha Kumar Rai, a young NRI engineer born in Puttur, was felicitated on the occasion of Pravasi Bharathiya Divas held in Le Meridian Hotel in New Delhi recently. He had recently received the prestigious Bharath Samman Award 2011 for international and national achievement in the technical field from J. J. Singh, the governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

Dr. Iqbal Singh, the governor of Puducherry; Dr. Balaram Jakhar, the former speaker of the Lok Sabha; Nameesha Madhvani, the Uganda high commissioner to India; Joginder Singh, the former CBI director; Dr. Rami Ramger, an NRI entrepreneur based in Britain; and many other dignitaries from home and abroad were present.

A grand reception was held by James Bevan, the British high commissioner to India, for delegates who were attending the Pravasi Bharathiya Divas.

About Harsha Kumar Rai

Harsha Kumar Rai was born in Puttur to Madua K. M. Mohan Rai and Mithrampady Jayanthi Rai. Having obtained an MTech, he worked for government projects in four countries. Currently, he is working in Oman as an infrastructure engineer for a US-based international engineering consultancy.

Mr. Rai has attended a number of international and national training programs and has gained experience in flyover, road, and infrastructure technology.

He also obtained a rank at the state-level in Bachelor of Engineering (BE) course. He has handled a number of mega projects in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Bangalore, Muscat, and Abu Dhabi.
