Health Commissioner visits Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospitals

Mangaluru, March 17, 2025: Dr. K.B. Shivakumar, Commissioner of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, visited Mangaluru on Sunday and inspected the District Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospitals.

During his visit to Wenlock Hospital, he toured various departments and gathered information about the facilities provided to patients. He expressed appreciation for the cleanliness and overall hospital environment.

The commissioner mentioned that there have been requests to upgrade Wenlock’s infrastructure and recruit additional staff, and assured that these matters would be reviewed at the government level.

At Lady Goschen Hospital, he praised the services being provided and observed the neonatal unit. He commended the hospital for reducing infant mortality rates through the establishment of a human milk bank.

Dr. Shivakumar also expressed happiness over the provision of advanced facilities for patients through CSR funding.

District Health Officer Dr. Thimmaiah, Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr. Shivaprakash, Lady Goschen Hospital Superintendent Dr. Durgaprasad M.R., and other officials were present during the visit.
