Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, August 16, 2024: Elected representatives including Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta, Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik and Mangaluru North MLA Bharath Shetty met Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan on Saturday in the wake of reports of inconvenience to locals as well as devotees visiting Kateel and Polali temples following the ban on movement of heavy vehicles on the Addoor bridge near Polali.

The elected representatives urged the DC to allow light school vehicles on the bridge.

Responding to the appeal the DC said a meeting of bus operators, school heads and gram panchayats along with RTO officials will be held to discuss the measures to be taken and said lorries and other heavy vehicles cannot be permitted on the weak bridge.

It may be recalled here that the DC had earlier issued an order banning heavy vehicles on the Addoor bridge located on the Suratkal-Kabaka State Highway 101, as the bridge is in a weak state.
