Hemant, General Secretary of Dakshina Kannada district Congress, passes away

Surathkal, August 12, 2024: Hemant (50), the General Secretary of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress and a resident of Kadambodi in Surathkal, passed away on Sunday at a hospital in Mangalore after a brief illness.

Hemant had held the position of Vice President of the Surathkal Block Congress and played a significant role in party organization. He also held various positions in several local organizations. He contributed significantly to the campaign for the removal of the Surathkal Toll Gate.

As he was unmarried, his final rites were conducted at his residence in Kadambodi, near the Govind Das College in Surathkal.

Prominent figures such as Vice President Ivan D’Souza, former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, KPCC General Secretary Inayat Ali, KPCC member Sadashiv Shetty, Surathkal Block Congress President Purushottam Chitrapur, General Secretary Rajesh Kulai, CPI(M) leader Muneer Katipalla, Pratibha Kulai, former MLA Moyideen Bava, and others paid their last respects to the deceased.

Condolences were expressed by KPCC General Secretary Inayat Ali, former Minister Abhayachandra Jain, KPCC General Secretary Mithun Rai, KPCC member Vasant Bernard, DYFI District President B.K. Imtiaz, the Surathkal Block Congress Committee, the Surathkal Toll Gate Protest Committee, and various organizations.
