Mangaluru, December 1, 2024: The Heritage Week celebrations at the historic Old DC office in Mangaluru began on Saturday with the launch of ‘Echoes: A Heritage Festival Celebrating Mangaluru,’ held over the weekend.

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP inaugurated the event, emphasizing the 150-200-year history of the complex and describing it as a collective effort to showcase Mangaluru’s rich heritage.

Students from Srinivas College of Architecture documented the building’s architectural significance and initiated a site cleanup. The event saw collaboration from local organizations, including Intach, Art Kanara Trust, and Kalladka Museum, to highlight the history of Mangaluru, Tulunadu, and the contributions of the Basel Mission.

The Dakshina Kannada district administration, in partnership with the tourism department and several local organizations, spearheaded the event. Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, ZP CEO Anandh K, and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration.
