Hundreds protest against Suratkal toll gate; cops detain protestors

Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2022: Hundreds of protestors who had gathered near the Suratkal toll gate under the  aegis of the Action Committee against Suratkal toll gate began their protest on October 18, Tuesday, demanding the immediate closure of the toll gate. Police personnel who too were present in large numbers prevented the protestors from picketing the toll gate by pushing the barricades.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Many of the Committee leaders and protestors including Muneer Katipalla, B K Imtiyaz, Congress leaders Ivan D’Souza, Shakuntala Shetty, J R Lobo, Moidin Bava, Pratibha Kulai, Shashidhar Hegde, Mithun Rai and others were taken into custody by the police.

The protest had earlier disrupted vehicular movement on the Highway. Police have presently made arrangements for smooth movement of traffic.

Security arrangements had been tightened in the area in the wake of the protest.
