Mangalore, Aug 24, 2013 : The indefinite hunger strike launched by Sudatta Jain Shirthady, General Secretary of the Akhika Bharatha Karmika Sangha in front of the ESI Hospital at Kadri Shivabagh, demanding end to discrepancies in ESI Hospital, has entered the sixth day on August 24, Saturday.
The agitation has been launched urging the Centre to take over the management of ESI Hospitals and also to solve various problems confronting the ESI Hospital in Mangalore.
On August 23, Friday, Sudatta Jain who addressed the agitators said so far the agitation has not received support from any trade organization. He said the hunger strike has been launched against the government and not against any organization.
ESI authorities who visited the protest venue and held talks with the agitators, later assured to bring their demands to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner.
