Bengaluru, August 17, 2024: Actor Rishab Shetty, who was awarded Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 70th National Film Awards for his directorial film ’Kantara,’ expressed his excitement and credited his entire team for the achievement.

"It’s an incredible feeling to win a national award because of the prestige it carries," Rishab Shetty shared. "I dedicate this honor to my team, the people of Keradi, and the daiva nartakas. ’Kantara’ is a film deeply rooted in my hometown and my heritage, and I’m immensely grateful to Vijay anna (Vijay Kiragandur) for believing in a story like this. I especially want to thank the people of my village, Keradi, who supported me throughout the entire filming process. I believe the daivas also played a significant role in blessing me with this award."

He also conveyed his gratitude to his fans, saying, "I want to thank the people of Karnataka and the National Awards panel for recognizing this film. The people have made this film a success, and I am truly happy. I dedicate this win to the people of Karnataka."

Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, ’Kantara’ tells the story of a Kambala champion, played by Shetty, who faces off against an upright Forest Range officer. The film also won the ’Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment’ award.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, the film features Shetty in a dual role. It was released on September 30, 2022.
