Mangalore, Jan 22: The Mangalore branch of Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP), organized the 48th annual IAP conference at TMA Pai Convention Hall on Jan 22, Friday.
Ramanand Shetty, the pro vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, inaugurated the event and said that 99 percent of the 299 medical colleges in India are private colleges. Annually, the colleges produce 30,000 graduates. He also said that medical services are limited to city areas despite the fact that large number of medical students pass from various colleges in India annually.
Captain Ganesh Karnik said that Karnataka will introduce a counseling chapter for physiotherapy at the earliest possible. Prof Meg Elyne Morres said that physiotherapy is an essential aspect of healthcare.
MLA U T Khader, H S Ballal, M Ramgopal Shetty, Dr. Samsheer of UAE, A J Shetty, Dr Ali Irani, the president of IAP, and Prof U T Ifthikar Ali were the dignitaries on the dais.
