IMD issuses red alet for DK on Friday, Udupi on Aug 31

Mangaluru, August 30, 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for August 30 in Dakshina Kannada district, anticipating heavy rains. A red alert has also been announced for Udupi district on August 31 due to expected heavy rainfall.

Additionally, an orange alert is in place for August 31 and September 1 and 2. The IMD has advised fishermen to be cautious as wind speeds could reach 35 to 45 km per hour.

Mangaluru experienced moderate rainfall on Thursday, with cloudy conditions persisting throughout the day. Heavy rainfall was recorded in Puttur and Sullia taluks, while Bantwal saw moderate showers.

Udupi district also received substantial rainfall on Thursday, with intermittent rain and wind throughout the day, including thunderstorms in the evening and night. Moderate rains were reported in various parts of Karkala and Kundapur. The maximum temperature recorded in Mangaluru was 28.4°C, and the minimum was 23°C.
