Mangalore, Jan 31,2013: Consequent upon the Bhajrangdal raid on an ice cream parlour at Attavar on January 30, Wednesday, on the grounds that immoral activities were underway, the Mangalore Police have clarified that the seven youth were taken to the station merely for security reasons and were later let free as they were not engaged in any illegal activity.
Commissioner Manish Kharbikar has said that none of the youngsters who were taken to the station were minors. He said no case has been booked ‘as smoking on the terrace was not an offence.’ The students were sent back after nearly 45 minutes at the station.
It is learnt, when the youth were taken to the station, the Bhajrangdal and Durga Vahini which were responsible for the raid, said there were complaints from locals that youngsters were smoking cannabis at the lounge of the parlour.
