KARKALA, Oct 30 : India is emerging a world leader in the field of Information Technology and this fact has been even a concern for the US President Obama,” opined M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Law and Justice.
He was speaking after inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the NMAM Institute of Technology (NMAMIT) at Nitte on October 30, Saturday. Moily also inaugurated the Vocational Training Institute at NMAMIT on the occasion.
Mr. Moily further called upon higher educational institutions to achieve excellence through innovation and was all praise for the NMAIT for achieving recognition and commendation even at the global level.
He said the Union Government wanted each and every citizen of the nation to be educated and added it would strive towards this end.
Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, inaugurated the Staff quarters and NRI hostel block on the occasion.
In his address, he said the nation can progress only when the society and the government worked in unison.
Dr NR Shetty, President of ISTE and former Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University, who presided over the function, released the College’s journal and analysed the progress of the institution. He was all praise for the Nitte Education Trust which helped a remote village like Nitte to be recognized in the global level.
Dr VS Acharya, State Minister for Higher Education, laid the foundation for the silver jubilee lecture complex.
N.Vinay Hegde,Chancellor of Nitte University, welcomed the gathering. Dr SY Kulkarni, Principal of NMAMIT, Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Vice Principal, Vishal Hegde, Trustee of Nitte Education Trust, Legislator H Gopal Bhandari, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and others were present on the occasion.
