Indian Medical Association felicitates 4 eminent doctors on Doctors Day

Mangaluru July 8, 2024: “Doctors day is celebrated in commemoration of birth and death anniversary of legendary physician and surgeon, former chief minister of West Bengal. Bharath Ratna late B.C. Roy in recognition and in appreciation of his
immense and significant contributions to the society”, opined Nitte University Pro
Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shantharam Shetty. He was addressing the members of IMA
Mangalore Branch on the “Doctors Day celebration and Awards Presentation ceremony” held on 07.07.2024 at IMA hall Mangalore. He further added that this day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the health care sector and to encourage the persons to pursue the career in health care. It is also celebrated to renew the bond between patients and doctors which will help to restore the mutual respect and trust. He further added that it’s a matter of great concern and regret that the govt. has passed and act against the service of medical professionals which has to be opposed and protested he appealed to the doctors fraternity.

President of IMA Prof. Dr. Ranjan in his presidential address revealed the aims,
objectives and significance of the doctors day and informed about the future plans and activities of IMA.

On this occasion 4 eminent doctors were felicitated and presented with doctors day award in recognition and appreciation of their invaluable long service and contribution to the medical field 01. Dr. L.L. Joshuva (General Physician), 02. Dr. Jeevaraj Sorake (General Surgeon), 03. Dr. Indumathi Mallya (Obstetrician and Gynaecologist) 04. Dr. Subir Rebello (Family Physician).

As a part of CME programme eminent consultant Orthopaedic surgeon of Yenepoya
Hospital Dr. Deepak Rai delivered a guest lecture on innovative Robotic Surgery in
Joint Replacement with audio visual presentation.

IMA President elect Dr. Jessy Maria D’Souza, Treasurer Dr. Prashanth. IMA Trust
President Dr. Divakar Rao and Treasurer Dr. K.R. Kamath were present. Secretary Dr. Avin Alva proposed a vote of thanks. Mrs. Akshatha Sudhir compered the programme. The members presented a cultural event to entertain the audience.
