Indian Railways modernises AC-paid waiting halls in few Stations including Mangalore Central

Palakkad, June 25, 2024: Indian Railways’ Palakkad Division is proud to announce the modernization of its existing Air-Conditioned (AC) Paid Waiting Halls at select railway stations. This upgrade introduces top-class features to ensure a comfortable and pleasant waiting experience for passengers.

The fare structure for using these AC-paid waiting halls remains affordable. Adults will be charged Rs. 30 per hour or part thereof, and children above the age of 5 years will be subject to the same fare as adults. This nominal fee provides access to a range of upgraded facilities designed to enhance passenger comfort. The modernization initiative has been implemented at several key stations within the Palakkad Division. Passengers travelling through Palakkad Junction (Platform 2/3), Tirur (Platform 1), Shoranur Junction (Platform 4/5), Kozhikode (Platforms 1 and 4), Kannur (Platform 1), and Mangalore Central (Platform 1) can now avail the facilities.

The upgraded AC Paid Waiting Halls feature comfortable and modern seating arrangements, improved air-conditioning systems to maintain a cool and pleasant environment, and clean, hygienic surroundings and toilets with regular maintenance. Additionally, passengers can benefit from multiple power outlets for charging electronic devices, access to reading materials and infotainment options, improved lighting and interior design for a better ambiance, and free Wi-Fi access. To avail themselves of this service, passengers can directly visit the modernised AC-paid waiting halls at the aforementioned stations. No prior booking is required; passengers can access the hall and pay the fare on the spot.
