Mangalore, Jan 10, 2010: A shirastedar of JMC Court was nabbed by the High court vigilence cell officers for allegedly accepting a bribe from advocates to get documents pertaining to the case signed on Jan 10, Monday. The shirastedar, identified as Rudrappa, demanded bribe from advocate Raghavendra Rao to sign urgent bail papers required for the court procedure.

Advocate P. P. Hegde informed reporters that Rudrappa was in the habit of demanding as much bribe as Rs. 100 – Rs. 1000 just for signing applications and documents. If he did not demand the bribe directly, he would keep the file pending for several days. Advocate Raghavendra Rao, the president of BJP Yuva Morcha, submitted a file for signature and Rudrappa demanded Rs. 200 for signing it immediately. Advocate Rao filed an FIR in the police station and Inspector Uday said that this case cannot be handled by him. 


Rao, therefore, filed a complaint with the high court vigilence cell, which directed him to offer Rudrappa currency notes applied with phenolphthalein powder. Rao offered the bribe and informed the high court vigilence cell, after which Rudrappa was immediately taken into custody.  Further teh arrest of the accussed will be held after the dicussed the matter with chief commissioner of the High Court.


Advocate Hegde also said that the court worker has been caught red-handed accepting bribe, for the first time. The case will be soon directed to the High Court. The Mangalore Bar Association and the BJP Yuva Morcha have condemned corruption and will hold a protest to demand justice for advocates.
