Mangalore, Dec 9: The convention of the Women’s Wing of Jamathe Islami Hind (JIH), Dakshina Kannada, was organized in the Town Hall today.
C P Sabira, the secretary of the Women’s Wing of JIH, Kerala, inaugurated the formal programme. In her introductory speech, she provided plenty of information about the association. She said that this association has given women ample freedom to raise their voices. Women can easily progress with the help of associations such as these. She said that women are chiefly responsible for the great changes in society. Women should therefore be encouraged to bring about great positive changes in the world, she said.
Sajida Mumin, the convener of the Women’s Wing of JIH, Mangalore, gave the key-note address, in which she spoke about Jamathe Islami Hind. She informed the gathering that the association is organizing a convention in Kuttipura, Kerala, next month to discuss the major problems faced by women and to identify solutions to those problems. Eminent personalities from the community will participate in the convention. This convention is organized in order to study various social issues and find solutions to common social problems, she said.
E C Ayisha, the vice president of JIH, DK; Shahnaz M, the editor of Anupama Women’s Monthly; Sakina Akbar, the president of JIH, Kasargod; Noor Ayisha; K Amina; and Maryam Shahira, lecturer in Women’s Islamic PU College, Ullal, were the dignitaries on the dais.
