New Delhi, March 08: The first list of Lok Sabha candidates released by the Congress Party on March 8, Saturday has included Jayprakash Hegde, sitting MP of Udupi- Chikmagalur Constituency. Jayaprakash Hegde had won the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha election ealier defeating BJP candidate Sunil Kumar by about 45,000 votes.
The fate of the Mangalore constituency will be decided on March 9th- Party Primary election. Former Union Minister Janardhan Poojary is considered the front runner.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, IT expert Nandan Nilekani and cricketer Mohd Kaif, Jaiprakash Hegde are among 194 candidates as Congress tonight released the first list of its nominees for Lok Sabha polls that contains several new and young faces. Party sources said 35 per cent of the candidates are under the age of 50.
The Central Election Committee of the party, headed by Sonia Gandhi, has finalised the list which included several sitting members including union ministers, like Mallikarjuna Karge and K H Muniappa. Where as, prominent names like Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernandes, S M Krishna has not figured in the 1st list.
