Journalist Alfie D’Souza passes away at 64

Mangaluru, June 29, 2024: Veteran journalist Alfred D’Souza, affectionately known as Alfie, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the age of 64. He was the son of the late George and Magdaline D’Souza and the brother of Joseph and Rudy D’Souza.

After working in the USA for over 30 years, Alfie returned to his hometown, Mangaluru, where he joined mangalorean.com as a freelancer in 2012. Renowned for his unwavering commitment to public interest, Alfie authored numerous impactful articles focusing on civic issues, the environment, heritage, nostalgia and neglected societal concerns. Known for his prolific output, he also had a deep fondness for dogs and other pet animals, often writing articles concerning them.

His funeral was held on the same evening at 3:30 PM at St. Francis Xavier Church, Bejai. Alfie D’Souza’s legacy of journalistic dedication to community service will be remembered by many.
