Mangalore, Feb 10, 2012 : Addressing reporters on Feb 10 Friday, Justice M. F. Saldanha, the former judge of Mumbai and Karnataka High Courts, said that District-in-charge Minister Krishna Palemar and MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat definitely deserve to be dismissed as they brought disgrace to the twin districts not only through the episode of viewing porn in assembly, but also through a rave party organized under the guise of an international art and music festival at St. Mary’s Island in Udupi.
Expressing his criticism of the Island Festival, he said that people consider St. Mary’s Island to be a holy place and several people go there only to meditate. The free use of drugs and alcohol in St. Mary’s Island and foreign tourists permitted to exhibit promiscuity must be condemned by everybody living in the coastal areas irrespective of caste, religion, or community, he said.
Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and District-in-charge Minister Palemar must be sacked just as the ministers caught on cameras viewing porn clips in assembly were sacked, he declared.
Stating that foreign tourist engaging in illegal activities had wrecked the reputation of Goa, he said that the local people raised their voice in protest and put an end to it. He also pointed out nowhere in the world are people permitted to exhibit promiscuity or engage in illegal activities on beaches.
P. B. D’Sa of PUCL was also present at the press conference.
