Kadaba: Man arrested for sexual harassment of a minor girl

Mangaluru, January 03, 2025: The Kadaba police have arrested Praveen Poojary, a resident of Omkal in Kodimbala village, on charges of sexually harassing a minor college student under the pretense of a romantic relationship.

According to the complaint, Praveen allegedly gained the girl’s trust and exploited her by establishing a physical relationship in a rented room. He is accused of secretly recording their interactions and using the footage to blackmail her. It is further alleged that he repeatedly took her to rented accommodations near Puttur, continued the exploitation, and administered pills to prevent pregnancy.

On Monday, Praveen reportedly took the girl to a rented room in Kumbra, where they stayed overnight. The following day, an argument broke out, during which he physically assaulted her and later abandoned her near Farangipete. The girl confided in her family, who subsequently filed a police complaint.

In her statement, the victim claimed that Praveen concealed his engagement to another woman and misled her with false promises of marriage.

The Kadaba police acted swiftly, arresting Praveen and registering a case against him under the POCSO Act and other laws applicable to crimes against minors.
