Karkala: Businessman ends life by shooting himself

Karkala, April 29, 2025: Dileep N R, a businessman from Karkala and former president of the Karkala TMC Standing Committee has reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself near the State Highway on the Nitte Doopadakatte road of Karkala.

A resident of Tellar road in Karkala, Dileep was reportedly suffering from a kidney ailment and had also incurred losses in his businesses. It is said he was mentally depressed owing to his health issue.

Late night on Monday he had sent WhatsApp message to his friends stating he was leaving them behind. A Mumbai businessman hailing from Karkala who saw the message informed Dileep’s elder brother. Despite repeated efforts he was not reachable and finally his car was traced at Doopadakatte.

It is learnt, Dileep consumed poison and then shot himself dead.

Karkala Rural Police are investigating the case.
