Karkala: Woman, lover arrested for killing husband

Udupi, October 25, 2024: A shocking incident wherein a man was killed by his wife and her lover, has been reported from Ajekar in Karkala taluk. The two accused have been arrested.

The deceased is Balakrishna (44), while the accused are his wife Pratima and her lover Dilip.

Balakrishna who was suffering from fever and vomiting since some days was admitted to a private hospital in Karkala following suspicion that he was suffering from jaundice. Later he was admitted to KMC Hospital, Nimhans and Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru and then to Wenlock Hospital. But he breathed his last on October 20. Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased lodged a complaint at Ajekar police station expressing suspicion over the cause of the death. He had also named Pratima and Dilip Hegde in his complaint. Pratima reportedly revealed the truth when her brother pressurized her. She reportedly revealed that she had poisoned her husband’s food and that Dilip had provided the slow poison to her. She also reportedly revealed that her husband fell ill later and that on the morning of October 20 she and Dilip smothered Balakrishna to death.
