Karnataka Bank organizes Regional Heads’ Review Conference

Mangalore, Feb 6: “Ideas can be transformed into actions only if they are put into practise. Schemes will yield the proper results only with proper implementation,” said P Jayarama Bhat, the managing director of Karnataka Bank. He was addressing the Regional Heads’ Review Conference held at the head office of Karnataka Bank on Feb 6, Saturday.

 

Mr. Bhat reviewed the performance of 8 regions of Karnataka Bank during the quarter, which ended in December 2009. Mentioning that the days ahead of the Karnataka Bank are crucial and critical, he called upon all the regional heads to work hard for vigorous growth in credit portfolio, drastic reduction in non performing advances, and robust increase in CASA (Current and Savings Bank) deposits. He said that priority must be given to credit expansion, steep cut in NPAs, and mobilization of more funds under CASA.

Since the bank has high liquidity, the need to step up credit-based quality proposals to boost the bank’s profitability is urgent, he said. Referring to NPA as “a nightmare,” he said that it should be tackled on a war footing. He observed that CASA deposits will enhance the profitability of the bank.

Mr. B Ashok Hegde, the general manager, welcomed the members and initiated the discussion by pinpointing the focal areas of the day-long discussions.

General Managers K.H.Shiivaswamy Aithal, P. Jairama Hande, N. Upendra Prabhu also spoke on the occasion. N. R. Ravishankar, the assistant general manager, proposed the vote of thanks.

All the 8 regional heads, their deputies, the executives of the head office and International Division, Mumbai, were present.
