Udupi, April 9, 2025: Maanya S. Poojary, the younger among the two daughters of Vinoda, a daily wage labourer in a cashew factory in Udupi, district has secured 95.16% marks in the commerce stream in the 2nd year pre-university-1 examination.
Ms. Poojary is a student of Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple Pre-University College in Mandarthi of Udupi district. Ms. Vinoda who is the sole bread-winner for the family, has been educating both her children after loosing her husband while her daughters were young. Ms. Poojary did not avail tuition and prepared on her own and took the help of her college teachers to prepare for the exam. She aspires to become a chartered accountant.
Ranked third, among five students, in the commerce stream with 597 marks, Pranay Balasaheb Alagouda from Chikkodi in Belagavi district, a student of Alv’a PU College in Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada, did his primary and secondary school in Kannada medium in a school in Sadalga in Chikkodi taluk. He joined Alva’s PU College in 2023. Mr. Pranay aspires to become a chartered accountant. His father Balasaheb works in a sugar factory in Maharashtra while his mother Seema Alagouda is a home maker.
Vaishnavi Prasad Bhat, also from the Alva’s PU College who is ranked third, among others, in commerce with 597 marks, hails from Belman village of Dakshina Kannada. She also aspires to become a chartered accountant and has already enrolled for the CA foundation course. Daughter of businessman Prasad Bhat and home maker Srividya Bhat, Ms. Vaishnavi did her schooling from an English medium school in Nandalike.
