Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy to have new president

Mangalore, Oct 9: Although the CM wants to extend the tenure of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President Dr. Palthady Ramkrishna Achar by another term since his tenure will conclude on Oct 10, Dr. Achar has expressed his desire to step down because of health issues. 

The names of Prof. A. V. Navada, Uday Dharmasthala, and Koira Balepuni have been proposed for the post. Prof. Navada is a retired professor of Hampi University, Uday Dharmasthala is a member of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, and Koira Balepuni is a retired tahsildar. 

Tulu enthusiasts feel that people who are already familiar with the workings of the academy and know about its administration are suitable for this post as the academy has already launched important projects such as the construction of a new academy building, teaching of Tulu in schools, and so on.
