Karnataka’s monkey man ’Kothi Raj’ scales Karinja Kshetra rock in Bantwal

Mangaluru, March 24, 2025: Rock climber Jyothiraj, popularly known as ’Kothi Raj’ and ’Incredible Monkey Man’, known for his prowess of climbing rock faces, fort walls and tall buildings, scaled the Karinja Kshetra Rock in Bantwal on Sunday.

He effortlessly scaled the massive rock.

The Karinja Kshetra, one of the oldest Shiva Temples in the state, is situated at an altitude of 1,200 feet above sea level. The temple stands on a single rock at a height of 800 feet, surrounded by enormous boulders.

Here, on the Rathabeedi Road, devotees climb a series of steps, passing through the Parvathi Temple, to reach the Shiva Temple. Earlier, the devotees climbed steps to reach the Temple. Jyothi Raj surprised every one by swiftly climbing a massive rock and reaching the Shiva Temple.

Jyothiraj took up the challenge of climbing this massive rock and began his ascent from the backside of the Temple on Sunday morning. Initially, he used a rope for support, but midway through, he showcased his skills by climbing bare-handed, thrilling the gathered crowd.

The sight of him climbing under the scorching sun gave some onlookers goosebumps. A large number of people who had gathered at the Karinjeshwara Temple expressed their excitement and support by cheering him.

Jyothiraj has been scaling hills and rocks in various parts of the state. He is all eager to start a sports club soon.
