Bengaluru, July 30, 2024: Karnataka’s Home Minister G Parameshwara has announced an intensified crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the state. Addressing reporters, Parameshwara stated that individuals without valid documents such as passports or visas will be detained and subsequently deported after consultation with Bangladeshi authorities.

This announcement follows comments by former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who described the presence of illegal Bangladeshi nationals as a threat to both state and national security. In a pointed remark, Parameshwara criticized BJP leader and former Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Bhaskar Rao for his failure to act on the issue during his tenure.

Parameshwara emphasized that the law and order measures are being tightened across Karnataka, ensuring no individual can evade legal repercussions. He also mentioned that regular police operations have been ongoing to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi residents.
