Mangaluru, Apr 29, 2017: The investigation into the Karthik Raj murder case has achieved success with the cops arresting his sister Kavyashree and two others in connection with the murder. The other two accused are siblings and have been identified as Preetham and Gautham.
Informing this to reporters here on April 29, Saturday, Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that the special investigation team formed under the leadership of City Crime Branch ACP Valentine D’Souza had succeeded in cracking the case.
The arrested Kavyashree, sister of Karthik Raj worked at Kanachur Hospital. Investigations revealed that she had developed hatred towards Karthik owing to several issues, the Commissioner stated.
She had contacted Gautam of Santosh Nagar, Kuttar and had made repeated requests to eliminate her elder brother and had offered Rs 5 lakhs for executing the murder, the Commissioner said. He informed that Gautam who was constructing a house at Kondana was in need of money and he thought the amount would help him. Heeding to Kavyashree he along with his brother Gaurav had hit Karthik Raj’s head with an iron rod on October 22 last year when the latter was jogging as usual near Ganesh Mahal near Asaigoli. Karthik had succumbed to his injuries the next day, The rod used by the assailants has been recovered. The accused Kavyashree’s husband worked in Dubai.
The Commissioner announced a cash reward of Rs 25000 to the police team which succeeded in its mission. The team included ACP (South) Shruthi, Konaje Inspector Ashok and others.
