Kasargod: Couple kill 3 kids, hang self just days after their second marriage

Kasargod, May 25, 2023: A couple who had a second marriage just two weeks ago have been found dead in their home at Cherupala in Kannur, along with their three children.

The deceased are Shaji (42), his wife Shreeja (38), Shreeja’s children Sooraj (10), Surabhi (8) and Sujin (12). Police have reportedly found a suicide note inside the house.

 

It is suspected that the couple killed the children before hanging themselves. The children were found hanging near the steps of the house while the couple had hanged themselves from the ceiling fan using the same rope.

First the police who noticed the children dead outside the house, had later broke open the door which was locked from inside.

Both Shreeja and Shaji had married two weeks ago and it was a second marriage for both of them. All the three kids were born out of Shreeja’s first marriage. Though the exact cause of the suicide is not known, a family dispute is suspected to be the reason.
