Mangalore Today News Network

Kasargod, October 8, 2024: A 55 year old autorickshaw driver has ended his life at his residence located near the Kasargod Railway Station, days after the police seized his vehicle for violating traffic rules.

The deceased is Abdul Sattar of Karnataka origin. He had purchased the autorickshaw three years ago and was running it in the city. However four days ago the police had served a notice to him for parking his vehicle in a way that hindered vehicular movement. His vehicle was subsequently seized.

It is learnt Sattar had appealed to the police to release his vehicle. Later his colleagues too had approached the DySP office with an appeal but of no avail.

On Monday evening, Sattar was found hanging in his residence. As a mark of protest, local autorickshaw drivers suspended their service during the day.
