Kasargod : Elderly couple killed, 5 others injured as car crashes against stationed tanker

Kasargod, Nov 16, 2015 : An elderly couple who were residents of Heroor in Bandyodu lost their lives while five others sustained injuries when the Alto car in which they were travelling went out of control of the driver and hit a parked tanker near Hosangady in Manjeshwar on November 15, Sunday.
The deceased are Umesh Mayya (70) and his wife Sharada (65). The couple along with five other family members were heading towards Bandyodu from Mangaluru when the tragedy struck. The injured namely Chidananda, Shobha, Parvathi and children Manvitha and Sangeetha have been hospitalised. The tanker which was heading towards Kasargod from Mangaluru was parked near a checkpost when the mishap took place.
In an act resplendent of communal harmony several members of the Muslim community in the area had rushed to the help of their Hindu brethren who were injured in the mishap and also arranged for blood for the injured.
Manjeshwar police have registered a case.
