Mangalore Feb 22: The Muslim Central Committee of DK and Udupi in collaboration with the Central Jumma Masjid of Bunder organized a protest in front of the DC’s office on Feb 22, Monday, at 10:30 a.m., demanding a CBI probe into the mysterious death of Mangalore Kazi A M Abdulla Musliyar.
Expressing disappointment over the fact that the Kerala police have failed to satisfactorily investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the Kazi, Vice President of the Muslim Central Committee Haji Ibrahim Kodijal said that the late Kazi had received several threatening phone calls. He revealed that the Kazi had received a threatening phone call even when he was undergoing treatment in hospital.
President of the Central Jumma Masjid Al Haj Y Mohammed Kunhi said that, since the mysterious death of the Kazi has generated a number of rumors, the matter has to be investigated and the truth has to be placed before the public in order to clear the doubts of the members of the Muslim community. He also informed that the committee intends to meet the leaders of the community as well as the home ministers of Kerala and Karnataka to discuss this matter.
Mohammed Kunhi requested the people to maintain peace and order, adding that pelting stones on shops will not solve any problems, but will create more problems. He requested the people to pray to get justice as soon as possible.
Haji Abdulla Kunhi and Al Haj K S Mohammed Masood also spoke on the occasion. A memorandum requesting a CBI inquiry into the death of the Kazi was submitted to the DC immediately after the protest meeting.
Haji Ibrahim Kodijal, the vice president of DK Muslim Central Committee; Haji S M Rasheed, the convener of the Central Jumma Masjid; Mohammed Hanif, the general secretary; B Aboobakker; CM Mustafa; B Abdulla Kunhi; Hameed Khandhak; and C Mohammed also participated in the protest.
