Konkani film Ujwadu to be released on Oct 14

Mangalore, Oct 8: Film director Kasargod Chinna said that his Konkani film Ujwadu will be released in Big Cinema, Mangalore on Oct 14 Friday. He was addressing reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Woodlands today.

Speaking about his experiences with the film, he said that around 95 artistes have played a role in making it successful and that the film has been shot in and around Mangalore. The film also has 4 songs composed by Jayanth Kaikini and Achyuthadasa.

Ujwadu is all about the culture and traditions of the Gowda Saraswath Brahmin (GSB) community and lasts for around 1 hour 53 minutes. Kasargod Chinna said that it is not a commercial film and highlights the traditions of the GSB community in Mangalore.

Further, he said that they have distributed around 4000 CDs comprising the songs of this movie free of cost, adding that Century Group has sponsored around 5000 CDs.

The total cost of production of this movie is Rs. 45 lakh, he said. Since it is family-oriented movie, it passed the censor board without losing any of its scenes.

Artistes Shashibhushan Kini, Poornima Suresh, Sathish Nayak, Manjunath Kudva, and Ramdas Prabhu were also present.
